The highlight of the Achill Island Distillery Tour is the intimate whiskey tasting experience at the Barley Field Bar. Visitors are treated to a tasting of our 2 award winning IrishAmerican Whiskeys as well as our famous Mayo Mojito Cocktail!


Achill Island Distillery is one of Irelands only Irish-owned and family-operated distilleries.
Originally founded by John McKay, The Distillery is now operated by his 2 sons, Sean and Michael McKay, from County Mayo.
Daughters Kelly-Ann and Katie Mckay manage social media and marketing.

Our Water is sourced from Lough Corrymore - the highest mountain lake in Europe. Naturally filtered through quartz sandstone and amethyst crystal on its journey to our distillery in Bunnacurry. This natural filtration process results in a fresh mountain spring water which is ideal for distilling our premium Irish Whiskey.


Mick Gallagher, Ken Quinn, Sean McKay & Michael McKay are our highly trained distiller's, who all served their tutelage under world-renowned distiller Jack O Shea.
